Punjab Plans New Uniform For Traffic Police

Punjab Police have decided to change the Lahore traffic police uniform again, less than a year after introducing the current design.

According to police sources, traffic wardens will stop wearing the existing white shirt and blue trousers. The department will instead issue a bluish-grey uniform.

The move marks another revision in the force’s dress code after last year’s changes. The previous uniform was introduced under former Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed, and each traffic warden had received Rs5,000 to buy the revised dress.

Police sources said the decision came up in a meeting chaired by the Deputy Inspector General of Logistics and Procurement. Senior officials from logistics, resource management and the Punjab Highway Patrol also attended the meeting.

Under the new arrangement, the Punjab Highway Patrol will continue wearing its existing uniform pattern. The report also said officers and personnel of the Highway Patrol will receive a standardised uniform.
