The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed a man named Quaid-e-Azam to appear before the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) Board after his Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) was blocked over concerns about its authenticity.
The case was heard by Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Inamullah Khan on a petition challenging the blocking of the applicant’s CNIC.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer told the court that his client is a businessman whose identity card was blocked, affecting his daily affairs.
Representing NADRA, the authority’s Director Legal argued that the CNIC had been blocked because it was considered “suspicious” during verification.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the PHC directed the petitioner to appear before the NADRA Board, which will review the matter and determine whether the CNIC should be restored.
The court did not issue any immediate order to unblock the identity card, instead referring the matter to the relevant NADRA forum for further proceedings.
The case highlights the legal process available to citizens whose identity documents are blocked, with the NADRA Board responsible for examining disputed cases before a final decision is made.
