Shan Masood Creates History With Century Against West Indies

Pakistan’s experienced left-handed batter Shan Masood became the first player to score a Test century at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago.

The 36-year-old achieved the milestone on the third day of Pakistan’s ongoing first Test against the West Indies. The match is the first international red-ball fixture to be played at the venue.

Shan Masood came to the crease at No. 3 with Pakistan at 1-1 in response to the West Indies’ first-innings total of 311. He took control against the home team’s bowlers and completed a determined century during the first session of the third day.

The former Pakistan Test captain top-scored for the touring side with 109 runs from 184 deliveries, including 12 fours. His innings secured his place in history as the first batter to reach a Test century at the venue.

At the start of the historic match, Cricket West Indies also presented the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with a commemorative plaque marking the first Test staged at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

The PCB shared a picture of the plaque through its official social media accounts. The plaque was designed in a scroll-shaped, polished wooden frame with a rich mahogany finish. A black-and-gold engraved presentation plate, bordered with gold trim, was placed at its center.

It also featured a color photograph of West Indies captain Roston Chase and Pakistan captain Babar Azam holding the series trophy on the outfield of the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

The ongoing two-match series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27.
