The Sindh Police have launched a province-wide crackdown on vehicles operating without number plates and on motorists driving without valid licenses, following new directives issued by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Zubair Nazir Ahmed Shaikh.
In an official order dated December 4, 2025, the IGP instructed police officers across Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad and all district SSPs to take strict action against non-compliant vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance and relevant rules.
The directive states that a “considerable number of vehicles” are plying roads across Sindh without registration plates and are being driven by individuals who do not possess driving licenses. The IGP ordered officers to identify such vehicles and drivers and take legal action, including seizure where applicable.
Police units have been asked to submit daily reports by 10:00 am, detailing the number of vehicles seized, FIRs registered and vehicles taken into custody under Section 550 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The order, marked as “Most Urgent,” emphasizes ensuring strict compliance with traffic laws across the province. Copies of the directive have been forwarded to senior police officials for immediate implementation.

It’s a good initiative but the DIG traffic should also consider facts that many people have applied online for new number plates but the govt dept has yet failed to provide the plates to many vehicle owners who have applied since August and everytime anyone try to track their number plate the status for the majority shows “Not processed” although the fee is being charged online and acknowledgement for the same is being sent through post and digital.
Thanks the authorities for taking a step to make sincere efforts in improving flow of traffic by observing traffic rules meticulously. I make two suggestions 1- Initially the fine amount be less and gradually increase. 2- There should be parking spaces for motorists especially in big communal areas like Sadder etc where it’s a nightmare to park your vehicle peacefully. The parking plaza be activated with shuttle service to facilitate the public
AOA. dear Sir there should be an awareness amongst the bike riders the rules of traffic police or share a details on which the chanllan can be executed.
Police action against traffic violations is appreciated , but traffic fines should be reasonable.
