Hadees: Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar, “Allah’s Apostle SAWW has made Sadaqa-tul-Fitr obligatory, (and it was), either one Sa’ of barley or one Sa’ of dates (and its payment was obligatory) on young and old people, and on free men as well as on slaves.”
Fitrana Amount 2023
The minimum amount payable for Fitrana for every Muslim, including children, is the equivalent of 2.25kg of flour, rice, or other staple food, amounting to Rs.320 in Pakistan in 2023. You can pay more Fitrana amount if you want to if you’re blessed in abundance.
Fitrana Eligibility
The recipients eligible for this money are the same as the people you can pay Fitrana amount to:
- The poor (low-income households)
- The needy (someone who is in difficulty)
- Zakat administrators who distribute
- New Muslims
- Slaves and captives
- People in debt
- People stranded or traveling with few resources.
