6 Popular Dramas That Had The Worst Endings

These shows disappointed everyone with their finale.

The Pakistani drama industry has been on the rise in recent times. We have been treated to some stellar performances and good plots, though these popular shows might not have nailed their conclusion.

It is conventional wisdom that in order for a show to be a successful hit, it has to have a good and satisfying ending. The conclusion of any series is crucial as it can make or break the popularity and appeal of a drama serial. (Just ask Game of Thrones fans!)

Here is a list of popular Pakistani drama serials in recent times that ended on a bad note.

Tera Ghum Aur Hum

This was a popular show among viewers. This drama had black and white characters. A lot of fans expected to see a happy ending given how things played out between the characters.

Alas, it just wasn’t meant to be, Fan expectations were subverted, and not in a good way. Fans wanted to see Mahi and Ali have a happy ending after all that they’ve been through.

Instead, Sara became the main character just like Miraal from the drama Sabaat. Mahi eventually got relegated to a background figure. Some speculate that it was some sort of punishment for actress Hajra Yamin not being available for the last few episodes. Without Mahi, there was no point to the ending.

In the end, the viewers kept wondering why the writer decided to end a perfectly good show in such an odd fashion.

Muqaddar

This drama had probably one of the worst endings of this year. With an insensitive and carelessly written script, not only did the writers glorify forced weddings and kidnapping. Fans were upset that the male lead (Faisal Qureshi) wasn’t held accountable or responsible for his actions.

On the other hand, his first wife (Madiha Imam) somehow transformed into a villain. Writers turned Raima into a twisted and confusing character leading into the finale. That might have been an interesting angle if it was intentional, which it wasn’t! The writers were trying to make her ‘heroic’ with the portrait of her husband hanging in the background, dead. After watching Harris suffer for so long, the viewers expected a happy ending at least but it wasn’t meant to be.

Sabaat

This show revolved around the destruction created by a negative mindset. Most of the drama focused on the devious planning and scheming by Miraal and how it lead to the destruction of the lives of people close to her. While people like Anaya, most people wanted to see Miraal pay for her wrongdoings.

Sabaat received mixed reactions from the viewers, as some viewers loved it and others got frustrated and left. Only the die-hard fans liked the ending and that’s not exactly a good thing.

In the end, Miraal was not punished but was given a redemption arc by drastically changing her personality after an accident. Sounds like a very ‘Star Plus’ thing to do! Funnily enough, while Anaya forgave Hassan, he doesn’t even get much screentime or a chance to say something meaningful.

Kashf

For weeks Kashf had everyone’s undivided attention because of its unique story. However, it is on this list due to its abrupt end.

The divorce in the final episode disappointed the viewers and Kashf’s death did not sit well even though it was expected. Fans were upset about the negative characters not getting an ending befitting to their role in the plot.

This was definitely not the perfect way to end a great drama, which the viewers had so many expectations for. It was only Kashf’s death (kudos to Hira Mani for another brilliant performance) that was the most impactful moment of the finale.

Ye Dil Mera

With a star cast, this drama kept the viewers on the edge of their seats. However, the ending was one of the worst ever. The way Meer Farooq suddenly dies in an accident without retribution for everything he did was more of a convenience than anything else, which left viewers unsatisfied.

Fans wanted to see closure for Amanullah but all we got was an apology! Why did the writer waste our time showing Aman’s background, if his sufferings were not the main focus of the finale? Not only that, some of the supporting crucial characters conveniently disappeared from the last episode. Not only was this ending flawed but the execution was even worse.

Mere Pass Tum Ho

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without the finale that left everyone disappointed nationwide. One of the most popular shows in recent memory, Mere Pass Tum Ho had built up quite the hype for its finale. The show’s last episode was even premiered in cinemas!

Suffice to say, a lot was expected from the show’s last episode. Instead, we got a hilariously bad ending.

The drama was more about Mehwish and Danish, but it ended with an emotional conversation between a father and son. A dying father to be precise, who sure took his time to drag on his death.

Most people expected Danish to die but the show killed the sentiment by carelessly overdramatizing the scene. This resulted in a bad and cringe-worthy end to what could’ve been a great show. Mere Pass Tum Ho tops this list because people had high expectations from this show more than any other on the list.
