People love celebrities who genuinely show that they care about the poor. But its important to remember, that in the world of showbiz, showing concern for the poor has become nothing more than a photo op and a ploy to ‘follow the leader.’ In fact, even Bollywood celebrities have been exposed of doing just that.
One Indian journalist dedicated a whole thread on who put Bollywood up to ‘being relatable.’
When Bollywood artists have their own personal stylists, you bet that they have their own PR strategists as well. When celebs are told to do something by their PR handler, they have to. Doesn’t matter if they’re not cut out for it.
Bollywood PR gone wrong
Lets take a look at which Bollywood actors and actresses are being phonies for doing so:
Some PR guru has clearly been telling Bollywood's wealthy that, in a poor economy, they're seen as too elite, too out of touch. Do something that shows your ability to connect with the common man, they must have been urged. And so, with great unoriginality, they obeyed: (1)

This man created a whole thread of where Bollywood’s PR strategists went wrong.

This isn’t something new, but using poverty as a tool while trying to be relatable is counter-intuitive.
Next up we have Akshay Kumar:

There’s a recurring theme here. Seems like all Bollywood celebs just go for walks and hikes around villages. That too with camera crews tagging along to make sure they don’t miss an insta-worthy moment.

Plenty of people second this man’s POV on Bollywood’s PR gone wild.
It’s all PR stuff. Salman’s reputation was in tatters, PR company was involved, charities were opened and how his reputation has been turn around by PR in last decade is visible to everyone. This is true for many other stars and star kids as well

You are absolutely right.. that's why they are trying to share their pictures with common people

There are still netizens who managed to make a joke out of this.
Bollywood is all about PR
But even they can't match the PR of Modi
Now Bollywood PR is inspired by political PR

No one was delighted by this facade of using people as props.
O my Godse !! True to form they are all inspired productions

Given how everyone thought of the same idea, and camera crews were waiting on queue for these celebs to have a ‘genuine moment’, it certainly looks like a planned production.
I never thought of this! Given how all these incidents have happened in quick succession, what you're saying could well be the case…

Can’t be more true …. this has become so obvious that every action seems to have a propoganda attached

So what do you think? Is this the way PR has been done since time immemorial? Its one thing when politicians do it, but do you think celebrities are hypocrites for doing the same?
