The film is written and directed by a young filmmaker Bushra Jabeen. She shared a poster for her short film on Instagram.
She also shared details about the story and its main theme.
About Reha
Reha is set in the slum areas of a dystopian Karachi city. It is centered around the life of a young mother, Aasima. According to Bushra, the main character is a representation of the lesser privileged socio-economic classes of our country. The film aims to defy all traditional media norms.
“I look around and I foresee a dystopia that awaits us; and it gulps the poor sooner than other masses. Reha envisions a futuristic approach which is not kind – it won’t show you that we will come out of this triumphant. Instead, it raises the question: What if we don’t?” she asks.

The film is not just about climate change and poverty as Bushra explained that Reha is about the relationship between a mother and daughter. She also added:
“Reha was an approach discerning the issue of climate change in the worst and most inevitable consequences of it. It reflects the perplexedly intertwined layers and dynamics of a social system that would benefit the affluent and never the indigent, even if the world is on the verge of collapsing. The awareness towards both of these issues; especially the aggravating climate change is called for; and Reha grounds you to how real it is!”
Everyone is hoping to see this movie soon but due to current circumstances, Bushra revealed that the film’s production has been postponed. However, she said that a teaser for the will short film be out soon.
