As it turns out, something doesn’t have to be your first choice for it to be your best. Yumna Zaidi proved this in her role as Shakira in hit drama serial Ishq Zahe Naseeb. Yumna wasn’t the first actress producers approached for the role but there’s no doubt she made it her own.
Ishq Zahe Naseeb followed Zahid Ahmed as Sameer who suffers from disassociative identity disorder (DID).
Yumna Zaidi plays Sameer’s old nanny Shakira, who was complicit in emotionally torturing him as a young boy. In an interview, Zaidi revealed that she recently found out the role was first offered the actresses Ayeza Khan and Neelum Muneer.
In an interview, while talking about Shakira Yumna revealed:
“This character was first offered to Neelam Muneer and Ayeza khan and I don’t know why but they both refused to play this character.”

She added that hearing of their refusal made her even more scared at her ability to do such a character because she really admires both those actresses. But when the director insisted that she could really bring the character to life, she agreed to the role.

She admitted that playing the role was a great decision and she definitely doesn’t regret it! Especially not after the response it received.
