Queen Elizabeth II Mourns Loss of Puppy

Queen Elizabeth II lost someone else close to her heart as her puppy passed away. What makes the loss even more heart-shattering is the fact that the puppy, was given to her before her late husband Prince Philip’s death.

A dog is a man’s best friend and these furry friends really comfort us without words. Yet now even that comfort is gone as the Queen of England lost her furry friend, named Fergus. It was named after the Queen’s uncle, Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who was killed in World War I.

The British monarch is obviously upset over the death of one of her puppies. Quoting a Windsor Castle source, British tabloid The Sun has reported;

“The Queen is absolutely devastated, … Everyone concerned is upset as this comes so soon after she lost her husband.”

Queen Elizabeth lost her husband of 73 years in April and had found solace in the five-month-old Fergus. Little Fergus died from a heart defect he had from birth reported Mirror UK.

According to the tabloid, Prince Andrew reportedly gave his mother the two dorgi puppies, a cross between dachshunds and the queen’s beloved corgis breed in February. The puppies were a surprise for the Queen to cheer her up after her 99-year-old husband Prince Philip was hospitalized that month.  She named one Fergus and the other Muick, after the name of a loch on the Scottish royal estate at Balmoral.

The Queen’s husband later died on 9th April. She still has one older dorgi called Candy.

The 95-year-old British monarch used to be a keen breeder of corgis. However, with age, she has given up that pastime.

The short-legged Welsh breed is actually a cattle herding dog that is popular pets due to its cute appearance and miniature size.
