Pakistanis Pray for Afghanistan As Kabul Falls Under Taliban Control

The people of Pakistan are lending their support to Afghan brothers and sisters

Afghanistan is going through a crisis as Taliban have seized the capital. Photos and videos of people swarming the Kabul airport in order to leave the country have gone viral on social media. Unfortunately, five people were killed as citizens held onto a military jet as it took off and plunged to their deaths.

The situation is dire and the people of Pakistan are praying for the safety of their neighbors. Pakistani celebrities have also taken to social media to lend their support for Afghanistan.

 

Pakistanis stand tall in support of Aghanistan

Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai shared her concerns about the women, minorities and human rights advocates in the country.

“We watch in complete shock as Taliban takes control of Afghanistan. I am deeply worried about women, minorities and human rights advocates. Global, regional and local powers must call for an immediate ceasefire, provide urgent humanitarian aid and protect refugees and civilians,” she wrote.

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said that she is watching the events unfolding in dread.

“May God have mercy,” she wrote.

 

Television host and actress Anoushey Ashraf shared some photos from her her last trip to Afghanistan, pressing that those people are as human as anybody else. She penned a lengthy note and wrote,

“On this trip I met girls who wanted to cycle for the Olympics, boys who only wanted to be the next Messi. I met Imams at Masjids who greeted me with love, respect and dua’s. I met fantastic tv hosts who were living under tense conditions but were also excited about the new game shows they were launching. I met writers, poets and restauranteurs. I met children of the Hazara, beautiful even with their Traumas… Reaching out to all my Afghan friends tonight, you are in my prayers. Humanity first.”

 

Model Zara Peerzada is saddened by the current situation as ‘watching scenes from Kabul airport is just forming an unmovable pit’ in her stomach.

 

RJ Sabah Bano Malik called on people to stand with Afghanistan and Kashmir the same way they stand with Palestine.

 

Actor Sarwat Gilani requested her followers to pray for Afghan children and women.

 

We pray for the health and safety of our Afghan brothers and sisters and hope that things get better soon.
