Netizens Grieve Loss of Legendary Composer Bappi Lahiri

South Asia’s culture world took another loss as Bollywood composer Bappi Lahiri breathed his last. The singer-composer died at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday morning.

He had been fully on bed rest after contracting the Coronavirus in April 2021. The Ohh La La singer was being treated for multiple illnesses.

Then on Tuesday, he was brought to the hospital after his health deteriorated. Although doctors tried to revive him, the legendary music producer passed away. The veteran Indian singer was 69 years old.

Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, the hospital’s president, was quoted as saying;

“He died close to midnight due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea).”

 

As news got out social media was flooded with condolences.

 

Bappi Lahiri’s death soon after the loss of Lata Mangeshkar has left a huge vacuum in the entertainment industry. Veteran artists like them constituted a major piece of cultural assets.

Bappi Lahiri, often known as Bappi Da, provided some iconic Bollywood soundtracks. From Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyar, Raat Baaki Baat Baaki, Bambai Se Aya Tera Dost, and more. Particularly his compositions for the films Sharabi and Disco Dancer.
