Actress Zoya Nasir calls out critic Lubna Faryad from Amma TV Aur Mein for her harsh criticism of the drama serial Badzaat. The actress is offended by the YouTuber’s language and comparing actors, models to “Tawaif from Heera Mandi“.
Recently, YouTuber and critic Lubna Faryad from Amma TV Aur Mein reviewed the latest episode of the drama serial Badzaat. For context, the character Wali (Imran Ashraf) goes to meet his birth mother (Saba Faisal), even though his father divorced his mother while he was young. His birth mother is part of the entertainment industry, who chose a career in dancing over her family.
While reviewing the show, Lubna calls Saba Faisal’s character a “tawaif maa”, which translates to “prostitute mother”. Wali’s half-sister Ainee (Zoya Nasir) wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a model.
“Educated mothers have educated children,” Lubna explains, “therefore a daughter following her mother’s footsteps in the show is not strange. There used to be a Heera Mandi before. There used to be dances to tablas and now Indian songs are played… This is the movement.”
The Badzaat actress is appalled by Lubna’s remarks as Zoya Nasir takes to Instagram to address the issue.
“I’m sorry amma (Lubna Faryad) you’ve disappointed me so badly,” Zoya writes. “You went straight to Heera Mandi? You mean we can’t be clean models or actors? Your review is one thing but to disrespect a profession in such an ignorant way was such a low blow.”
She suggests that the critic should be more “careful” in the future with her words.
