Divorces can be difficult and lead to legal battles. Not even Brangelina is above this. After a long legal battle, Angelina Jolie won a lawsuit that ex-husband Brad Pitt filed against her.
Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit against The Eternals actress over the Chateau Miraval winery. The two tied the knot there back in 2014 and purchased the French winery in 2008 for an estimated $28.3 million. At the time they had mutually agreed not to sell their interests in the company.
However, the Drive actress later sold her stake to liquor giant Stoli. This led to a series of lawsuits, over the sprawling 405-hectare French estate in the United States, France, and Luxembourg.
The lawsuits even involved their respective businesses and various business partners. In the latest stand off, Angelina’s team subpoenaed documents from the Fight Club actor, his business manager and his company, Mondo Bongo.
According to Page Six, Brad Pitt’s camp has fought tooth and nail to have a court deny the request for the papers and correspondence. However, on Friday, a judge in Los Angeles said that the Ocean’s 11 actor and his partners must hand over the papers and they can’t even hold off until they appeal the decision.
As per the publications’ sources, Brad Pitt let his anger over their vicious split get in the way of common business sense.
“Any rational human being would be happy for Stoli to [be a partner in their business. They have top-notch marketing and distribution, … He just can’t see past his hatred of Jolie,” said the sources.
After dating for over a decade ‘Brangelina’ finally got married in 2014. The two had met in 2003, while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston. Then Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt called it quits in 2016.
By 2021, the Maleficient star told her ex-husband that she sold her part of their French winery to the Russian oligarch.
“She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Putt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval,” Brad Pitt claimed in his lawsuit against his ex-wife.
