Despite the current state of emergency as floods sweep over the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, many are using this as an opportunity to make profits. So, Pakistani YouTuber Arsalan Naseer is calling them out!

For example, The price of tents has climbed to an appalling Rs 15,000 due to an increase in demand in the midst of the national emergency.

In a post on Instagram, Arsalan Naseer left a message for those trying to earn a quick profit under the pretense of helping combat the natural disaster.

“Thank you Pakistanis,” he captioned the post.

The Chupke Chupke actor claimed that the current disaster is a result of people’s lack of humanity.

“Then they say why do bad times come to us. We are all thieves, I have said the same thing a thousand times before. No politician or government official is stealing from us. The people who complain about the country’s worsening conditions and say ‘The county had lots of potential, we just never had good politicians’ should know that the country does not have good citizens.”

He called out how this is corruption at our individual level.

“At every opportunity and at every level, we exacerbate corruption. We stock up on goods waiting for the prices to go up. If our people found out Qayamat is tomorrow, they will also hike up the prices of tasbeeh and janamaz with the excuse that we will see about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Everyone will hoard their money in the wait for Qayamat.”

As abnormal monsoon rains continue since mid-July flash floods washed away roads, crops, infrastructure, and bridges, killing more than 1,000 people in recent weeks. With another 33 million affected. Meanwhile, politicians, civilians, and non-profits are all trying to raise funds for the rehabilitation of those displaced in their own capacity.
