Imran Khan’s Sons Reach Lahore to Meet Him After Assassination Attempt

Their mother had conveyed their gratitude to his savior, Ibtisam, in a tweet last week.

Former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleiman Isa, have arrived in Lahore to meet their father who survived an assassination attempt in Wazirabad last week.

The PTI Chairman was shot in the leg during the PTI’s long march on 3 November. He is currently on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery and treatment at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

Imran Khan has been discharged and is now at his Lahore residence, Zaman Park. Reports suggest that Qasim and Suleiman Isa have reached Zaman Park as they were worried about him.

After the incident, the former PM also telephoned his sons in London who lives with their mother, Jemima Goldsmith, and cheered them up.

Imran Khan’s ex-wife was shocked by the assassination attempt and was relieved to learn that he had survived it. She also praised his savior, Ibtisam, who had courageously foiled the attack without a thought for his own life.

She conveyed their sons’ gratitude to Ibtisam in a tweet that read: “The news we dread… Thank God he’s okay. And thank you from his sons to the heroic man in the crowd who tackled the gunman”.

Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith, a British socialite turned filmmaker, were married from 1995 to 2004 and have two sons together. The marriage ended amicably in divorce in 2004, with the boys living with their mother in the UK and visiting their father almost every year.

The former premier’s love for his sons is evident from the fact that he dedicated his book, Pakistan: A Personal History, to them. Their mother revealed that they had wanted to attend his oath-taking ceremony but he had dissuaded them from doing so. However, this time, they decided to make the trip to Pakistan to be by his side after the attempt on his life.
