Sajal Aly and Jemima Khan’s ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ to Hit Pakistani Cinemas

The cross-cultural rom-com has a “tentative” release date.

Jemima Khan Goldsmith’s rom-com What’s Love Got To Do With It? starring Sajal Aly has a “tentative” release date in Pakistan.

According to reports, Atrium Cinemas confirmed the film’s premiere in Pakistan with a release date, albeit a delayed one, on 3 March. Other major cinema houses like Nueplex Cinemas, The Arena, and Cue Cinemas have yet to announce the movie’s screening.

Lahore’s Universal Cinemas has stated that it will not screen What’s Love Got To Do With? at their cinema house.

What’s Love Got to Do with It? screened on 26 January in Australia and 27 January in the UK. The cross-cultural British rom-com first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and  then at the Rome Film Festival last year.

Jemima Khan’s “love letter” to Pakistan has received rave reviews for critics and cinema-goers. The British filmmaker, who is the ex-wife of Imran Khan, also mentioned recently that her two sons, Suleman and Qasim Khan loved it as well.

Directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and written and co-produced by Jemima Goldsmith, What’s Love Got To Do With It? stars Sajal Aly, Lily James, and Shahzad Latif.

The film is a heart-warming rom-com that follows the story of a filmmaker, Zoe (played by Lily James), who has a hard time finding her Mr. Right while experiencing bad dates. Meanwhile, her childhood friend and neighbor, Kazim (Shazad Latif), wants to follow his parents’ example by opting for an arranged marriage with a lady (Sajal Aly) from Pakistan.
