Defending champions, Pakistan, stumbled out of the gates in their Champions Trophy campaign, suffering a crushing defeat to New Zealand, leaving fans frustrated, disappointed, and, of course, armed with memes.
New kit, same old sh*t… Our talented lads got humbled in the very first game of the all-important Champions Trophy. As hosts, we certainly did our usual “mehman-nawazi,” giving not one but two Kiwi batters centuries, while also giving their bowlers and fielders some highlight moments (i.e Glenn Philip’s jaw-dropping catch.)
As is tradition, Pakistan’s loss became meme fodder for fans. One viral meme showed Babar’s face morphed onto Chahat Fateh Ali Khan with the caption, “Barbad Fateh Khan sb.”
Another meme questioned whether Pakistan was playing an ODI or a Test match, poking fun at the team’s inability to keep up with the required run rate.
‘Selfish Babar Azam’ and Fan Outrage
As the dust settled, fans took to social media to vent their frustration, with many targeting Babar Azam’s leadership and approach.
One fan bluntly wrote, “Babar Azam played for New Zealand.” Another added, “Successfully wasted two hours watching Pakistan’s batting only to end up with nothing but depression. I’m done with this fraud team, especially with Babar.”
One X (formerly Twitter) user quipped, “Babar’s journey to 50 coupled with Salman Ali Agha’s batting has to be the best depiction of ‘The Tortoise and Rabbit story.’”
Let’s hope the Men in Green find their “Jazba” soon as their next game is against in-form arch-rivals India, and there’s no home-field advantage either. Yikes!

all shouters will be quite soon , if pakistan win against india.
