Despite Imran Khan being in jail, the people continue to show their love and support for his cause. In a heartwarming display of generosity, Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister, stepped into the spotlight to lead a charity iftar dinner in Lahore, raising an astonishing Rs. 35 crore in a single evening for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC).
The event, hosted by the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) on Friday, was part of its ongoing Zakat campaign and aimed to honor its donors and supporters.
And boy, did the donors show up. With an overwhelming outpouring of support, attendees collectively pledged Rs. 330 million, smashing last year’s fundraising record.
The evening wasn’t just about numbers, though. It was a beautifully curated event that tugged at heartstrings and inspired generosity. Dr. Faisal Sultan, CEO of SKMCH&RC, delivered a compelling presentation on the hospital’s achievements and ongoing projects, reminding everyone of the critical role their contributions play in saving lives.
Adding a personal touch to the evening, a soulful naat recitation by a cancer survivor left the audience moved, while long-time donor Mr. Ahmed Qureshi shared his journey of supporting the hospital over the years.
Aleema Khan, who led the event in the absence of her brother Imran Khan, was a picture of grace and determination as she thanked the donors for their unwavering support.
