The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony for Israeli actress Gal Gadot was interrupted by pro-Palestinian protesters, highlighting the deepening divide over the Snow White actress’s controversial support for Israel.

As the ceremony was set to commence, dozens of protesters gathered, brandishing signs with powerful messages such as “Heroes Fight Like Palestinians” and “No Other Land Won Oscar.”

The latter referenced a recent documentary that won the Oscar for Best Documentary, shedding light on the harsh realities of Israeli incursions into Palestinian territories. The atmosphere was charged, with chants of “shame on Gal Gadot” resonating through the streets.

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Variety reporter Katcy Stephan captured the intensity of the protests, showing demonstrators handcuffed by police as tensions escalated.

Protesters shouted, “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation,” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime.”

One protester articulated the frustration felt by many, stating, “From the last year and a half, and especially in the last 24 to 48 hours, 400 innocent people have been killed by the Israeli military, unprovoked.” This sentiment reflects the anger towards Gal Gadot, who, despite her celebrity status, has failed to acknowledge the devastating impact of Israeli military actions on Palestinian civilians.

The ceremony, which started 15 minutes late due to the protests, featured notable attendees including Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and actor Vin Diesel.

As Gadot took to the podium, she spoke of her journey, saying, “I’m just a girl from a town in Israel; this star will remind me that with hard work and passion and some faith, anything is possible.”
