For Pakistanis, Aurangzeb Ahmed has become more than just a spokesperson for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF)—he’s the new face of national pride and the internet’s favorite air force officer.
The Air Vice Marshal has become something of a folklore icon during the war against India. Social media was flooded with memes, hashtags, and praise for his “aura” and “rizz”—Gen Z’s way of saying he’s got style and confidence.
This surge in popularity was reflected online: from May 7 to 12, 2025, over 200,000 Pakistanis searched for “Aurangzeb Ahmed PAF” and “Rafale Jets,” according to Google Trends.
Aurangzeb Ahmed became the face of the Pakistan Air Force’s response after the PAF shot down several of India’s most advanced fighter jets, including the much-discussed Rafale. His now-famous line, “PAF: 6, Indian Air Force: 0,” instantly went viral, and his witty remarks about the Indian Air Force’s performance turned him into an icon.
People across Pakistan admired his charisma, swagger, and the way he delivered serious news with a touch of light-heartedness.
While Aurangzeb Ahmed was winning hearts at home, the contrast was clear across the border, where millions in India were busy Googling “Ceasefire meaning.”
