The murder of 17-year-old TikTok influencer Sana Yousaf has sent shockwaves across Pakistan, reigniting urgent conversations about gender-based violence, digital harassment, and the culture of impunity that endangers women and girls.
In response, Aurat March Islamabad has announced a protest to demand justice for Sana and to call for systemic change. The protest is scheduled for Thursday, 5th June 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Press Club, F6, Islamabad.
Aurat March has condemned Sana’s murder as a “reflection of a systemic failure to protect women.” In their official statement, organizers expressed devastation and anger, emphasizing that Sana’s death is a symptom of a much larger problem: the normalization of violence against women and the lack of accountability for perpetrators.
The group has called on citizens, activists, students, and allies to join the peaceful protest to honor Sana’s memory and demand justice. Their demands include:
- Immediate arrest and prosecution of Sana’s killer(s)
- A transparent investigation with regular public updates
- Stronger protections for women and girls, both online and offline
- An end to the culture of impunity that enables such violence
Aurat March urged the public to join the protest to remember Sana’s name, face, and life, and to stand against the erasure of women by patriarchal violence. The protest will be held under the banner #JusticeForSanaYousaf.
Aurat March, since its inception in 2018, has been at the forefront of challenging these injustices, demanding not only justice for individual victims but also systemic change to protect all women and girls.
