Bollywood’s perfectionist actor-producer, Aamir Khan, surprised fans with his announcement that he has decided to take a break from acting for a year and a half to spend some quality time with his mother, kids, and family.
He unveiled his decision in a show hosted by his childhood friend in Delhi, on which he opened up about his plans as an actor. He also shared that he will only produce his next film during the acting hiatus.
“When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in it that nothing else happens in my life,” he said and added,
I feel that I want to take a break, I want to be with my family, I want to be with my mom and my kids. I feel I have been working for 35 years.
Talking about the rumors of acting in his upcoming film Champion, 52-year-old Aamir Khan said that he will be behind the camera, only producing the film.
The film will be co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Sony Pictures International Productions, India, and 200NotOut Productions.
Aamir Khan was last seen in his dream project — the remake of Hollywood’s Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha, opposite Kareena Kapoor. It failed to impress and was also a commercial dud although the movie had been four years in the making and had high expectations by Indians.
With a reported budget of INR.1.50 billion, it is said to be his worst flop since Mela.
