Abdul Razzaq Under Fire For Sexist Remarks Against Female Cricketer

The former cricketer suggested Nida Dar is ‘too manly’ for marriage.

Former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq lands himself in ‘hot waters’ after making sexist statements during a talk show. Netizens put the all-rounder on blast for casually passing a misogynistic remark towards female cricketer Nida Dar.

Abdul Razzaq is a famous Pakistani cricketer known for his swashbuckling batting. The 41-year-old has left the game but continues to make special appearances on talk shows and sports segments. Recently, the all-rounder, along with female cricket star Nida Dar, was invited to Nouman Ijaz’s talk show G Sarkar. The host and three-panel members discussed women in sports with the guests.

During the discussion, one of the panel members asked Nida about marriage and why she hasn’t settled down yet. To which, Abdul Razzaq intervened.

“Oh, they don’t get married,” Razzaq quipped. “Their field is as such. When they become cricketers, they strive to be as equal as their male counterparts, if not better than them. They want to prove that not only men, but they can also do it as well. The feeling [to get married] is gone by the time they excel.”

Razzaq should have stopped there but he went on to say: “If you shake her [Dar] hand, it doesn’t feel like a girl’s hand.”

The remark triggered netizens, who took to social media to put Razzaq on blast. Check it out!

It has to be said that Abdul Razzaq wasn’t the only one to blame, the host and the panel members’ lack of respect towards Nida Dar is appalling. Watch the full interview here.
