After Deepika, More Bollywood Celebrities Are Starting to Support JNU Protests

They are not okay with the criticism.

Deepika Padukone has been making headlines all over the world ever since she joined the JNU students’ protests.The actress has been receiving both respect and criticism, and now a few Bollywood celebrities have come to her rescue.

On Tuesday, January 5, Deepika came out to support the protesters from Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) against a mob attack.

The Chhapaak actress met with student union leaders who were injured in the attack and expressed her solidarity with them.

Soon, the photographs and videos of her went viral on social media and received various reactions from the public.

Some praised Deepika for her brave stand, especially just two days before the release of her movie Chhapaak.

Others were of the view that it was nothing but a public stunt. Some even started a trend to boycott her movie. This was evident when #BoycottChhapaak and #DeepikaBoycottDebate were trending all over India.

In light of all this chaos, Bollywood celebrities have expressed their opinions and lauded Deepika over her courage to speak up.

Bollywood Celebrities Stand with Deepika

Dabangg actress Sonakshi Sinha came out in support of Deepika and criticized people for being indifferent to the issue. She wrote:

“No matter which political party you support,do u support violence? Don’t visuals of bleeding students and teachers shake you up?”

Sonakshi has been actively speaking up on the protests and has expressed her solidarity with the people on various platforms and events. It is important to note that Sonakshi’s father and India’s celebrated actor Shatrughan Sinha, is a former BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) member.

With Sonakshi’s post, more celebrities came out and started supporting Deepika.

Actress Bhumi Pednekar, straightened the public’s view and wrote that she can’t wait to watch her new movie.

Prominent film director Anurag Kashyap also supported Deepika’s move and changed his profile picture to one of Deepika’s photographs from the protests.

The Gangs of Wasseypur director has been actively speaking up for the JNU students. Earlier, he also tweeted about the so-called ‘democracy’ of India and also made a remark on all the prominent Bollywood celebrities who have stayed silent on the matter.
