Akon Performs Umrah in Makkah [Video]

The singer wins hearts again.

Akon

When a video of Akon performing Umrah surfaced, many fans went wild over the idea that ‘he had converted to Islam’. Well its time to bust that myth. The Smack That singer was always a Muslim, not a convert.

You’d think out most of us would know all we can about our favorite artists (or maybe that’s an unhealthy obsession). The singer previously opened up about being a Muslim and attributing his success to his faith.

Recently he performed Umrah while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Akon was in Saudi Arabia as part of his tour.

What’s next for Akon?

Other old news that resurfaced with this Umrah video, is that Akon is making his own city.

The numbers are indeed exaggerated.

While the Senegalese-American artist still earns plenty with his concerts and how popular his music is to date…..China is paying the bulk of the money.

This in turn raised conspiracy theories about China developing African states like the Congo, Ethiopia, etc as a colonization tactic.

Akon City

The truth is Akon really is creating his own city in Senegal. The singer wanted to created a ‘futuristic city’ for eco-tourism. The project is legit and was authorized by Senegal’s state-owned SAPCO tourism company.

The ‘crypto-city’, built on 2,000 acres of land, will even have its own cryptocurrency called ‘Akoin’. Akon actually announced all these details earlier this year.

Akon City will actually be a sustainable eco-tourism village. With everything run on renewable solar power. The objective being to campaign for the environment.

That’s not all. The Akon City in Senegal will be the first of many if it is successful. This might expand to a 100-year project of inter-connected crypto-cities across Africa.

“If it works, we will scale it out to all the other countries in Africa so all the cities are connected. It’s going to be a 50-to-100-year project, most likely. I probably won’t even live to see it finished. But for the project in Senegal, we have a 10-year deadline for that city to be built out.

We might really be looking at Wakanda here.
