Real-life consequences

Mir Sameem Mirza, President of a Mysuru-based NGO Yes Trust, spelled bad news for the movie.

He filed a petition against the film under Public Interest Legislation (PIL). Citing reasons that the movie is misleading people about the professionalism of IVF centers. Movies, especially mega-blockbusters deeply influence people regarding real-life issues and the theme on which the movie is based can cause people to deeply mistrust IVF centers.

Childless couples are already under immense social and psychological pressures and IVF centers cater to such couples. They aid them in achieving a successful pregnancy.

Although Akshay Kumar has endorsed the IVF center which is showcased the movie, the petition still takes a stand against the celebrity’s endorsement.

The petition states:

“The lead actors of this film are endorsing that this type of mix-up does not happen at Indira IVF Center, which creates doubts in the minds of people about the credibility of other IVF treatment centres across India. The petitioner has absolutely no reservation for somebody making an effort to increase the credibility of Indira IVF but not at the cost of the others in the field. This is the wrong type of product placement,”

The petition also questions the Central Board of Film Certification regarding the release of such a controversial film.

The matter will be ultimately decided in the court of Karnataka. The verdict will soon be announced by the court.
