Ali Zafar Files Plea for Confiscation of Meesha Shafi’s Passport

It was argued in the petition that Meesha Shafi is deliberately trying to avoid court proceedings.

Ali Zafar has filed a plea in the court for the confiscation of Meesha Shafi’s passport as part of the proceedings in his defamation case against her as the Muazaz Sarif singer seems to be avoiding a cross-examination.

The controversy around the vocal powerhouses Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar once again made the headlines. A few days ago, the Teefa in Trouble star claim for damages case was heard before the Additional Sessions Judge, in which Meesha Shafi had filed an application for leave of absence due to joint pain and had requested to have the hearing for cross-examination adjourned.

After this, the singer-cum-actor filed a petition to get her passport back. It was argued in the petition that she was intentionally trying to avoid court proceedings and leaving Pakistan without completing the cross-examination.

Note that Meesha Shafi is presently in Pakistan and also attended the premiere of her brother’s film, The Legend of Maula Jatt.

Meesha Shafi

Ali Zafar’s lawyer expressed fear that Meesha Shafi would leave the country without completing the cross-examination and requested to have her passport taken away.

For the unversed, the Aya Lariye singer accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in 2018. He denied the allegations and said that he would take the matter to court.

He later filed a defamation case for Rs. 1 billion against Meesha Shafi for slandering him under the Defamation Ordinance 2002, claiming that she had caused “tremendous injury” to his “reputation, goodwill, livelihood” through “false, slanderous and defamatory” allegations.
