It was rumored earlier this year that the highly acclaimed actor and heartthrob of the Pakistan showbiz industry, Humayun Saeed, is going to make his Hollywood debut in Netflix’s popular series The Crown. The news was later confirmed by Mahira Khan in a tweet and by Variety.
The Mere Pass Tum Ho star has been silent on his role so far, but now, his co-star, Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the role of Lady Diana in it, has confirmed it and sung praises for him.
She told EW in an interview,
I absolutely adored Humayun — he was such a lovely actor and such a beautiful person. You never know how that’s going to feel when you’re playing things like that with an actor. So I was very lucky to have him, and I think he does such a beautiful job.
The veteran Pakistani actor-cum-filmmaker will be playing the role of the surgeon Dr. Hasnat Ahmed who reportedly dated Lady Diana after her divorce from Prince Charles. The Pakistani doctor was allegedly Lady Diana’s ‘true love’ and the man that tabloids stated she referred to as ‘Mr. Wonderful’.
More About the Fifth Season of The Crown
There have been several speculations about the upcoming season of The Crown showing Lady Diana’s death. Elizabeth Debicki told EW that all the concerned entities are handling the show’s depiction of the tragedy as thoughtfully as possible.
“Peter and the entire crew of this job do their utmost to really handle everything with such sensitivity and truth and complexity, as do actors,” she explained.
Elizabeth Debicki further revealed that she was particularly excited about wearing Lady Diana’s ‘Revenge Dress’
She remarked, “It fascinated me how entranced people were with that dress. When it became known that I had the part, I received these text messages saying congratulations, [but] there was also a huge amount of text messages about the Revenge Dress. ‘Do you get to wear the Revenge Dress?’ ‘Oh my God, you get to wear the ‘Revenge Dress!'”
The fifth season of The Crown, a show about the British Monarchy, will premiere on 9 November. The latest season is set in the 1990s and has an all-new cast.
Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana opposite Dominic West (Prince Charles) and Humayun Saeed will play Dr. Hasnat. Imelda Staunton, who everyone remembers as Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter, will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth II, and Game of Thrones actor, Jonathan Pryce will essay the role of Prince Philip.
