Amber Heard Leaves Twitter After Ex-Boyfriend Elon Musk Takes Over

Several celebrities like Shonda Rimes and Stephen King are considering leaving it as well because of the $8 subscription fee.

The Hollywood actress Amber Heard deactivated her Twitter account days after her ex-boyfriend, Elon Musk, took it for $44 billion.

The reason she left the microblogging platform is unclear.

Some people think she needs a break from the backlash over her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. However, others wondered if having her ex-boyfriend as the head of her social media account gave her second thoughts about staying.

Heard and Musk began dating in secret in 2016 and went public with their relationship a year later.

Reports emerged in February 2018 that the pair had split because maintaining a long-distance relationship was becoming tough for them.

Heard wasn’t the only celebrity to take a step back from the platform after Musk became its CEO. Grey’s Anatomy writer Shonda Rhimes, singer Toni Braxton, and horror writer Stephen King were also not impressed with the new $8 subscription fee for the blue tick badge.

Actor Mia Farrow, Madam Secretary star Téa Leoni, She-Hulk actor Jameela Jamil, as well as authors and activists Shaun King and Amy Siskind are also thinking of stepping away from the site after the SpaceX founder announced the new fee — a price he revised from $20.

For the unversed, Elon Musk, who is the founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and the Boring Company, and a perfume seller, took control of the $44 billion microblogging platform last month. His Twitter bio now reads “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator”.

After firing its top executives, he declared its new policy of a monthly fee of $8 for the blue tick badge.

He made a new working policy that employees will work seven days a week and 12 hours a day. According to reports, the remaining Twitter employees are protesting against their new chief for overburdening them with work.
