Asim Azhar Joins Hands with American Band For New Song

Krewella - Asim Azhar

Pakistani singer Asim Azhar will collaborate with the American electronic music duo, Krewella on their track Paradise.

The track will be on Krewella’s album Zero. It is scheduled for release on January 31.

The album features 11 songs, including the one collaboration between Asim and the Krewella sisters.

The sisters were previously featured on Coke Studio Season 11 to revamp their track ‘Runaway‘. Coke Studio is also the platform that introduced Asim Azhar to the mainstream.

Krewella announces their new album

Now the track Paradise will be a part of their sophomore album Zero. The duo announced the news of their album on social media.

 

The first song from the album Mana came out on August 22nd. It has some Pakistani references in the vocals.

This was followed by Good on You featuring Nucleya. The track opens up to a ‘tabla‘ (small set of hand drums in South Asia) rift.

About Krewella

Krewella consists of sisters Jahan Yousaf and Yasmine Yousaf from Northbrook, Illinois. The girls get their Pakistani heritage from their father’s side. While their mother is of German, Polish, and Lithuanian descent.

The sistersdon’t really have a genre that they stick to. In their early days, they were heavily influenced by their love for rock music. Now the duo is tapping into their father’s Pakistani culture this time around.

Ever since the Kashmiri-American electronic music act, KSHMR introduced cultural influences in the EDM scene, plenty of others have followed suit.

His Lion Across the Field LP was heavily influenced by his Kashmiri heritage, with a track dedicated to his Dadi Ma (paternal grandmother).

He’s a regular act at Goa’s ‘Sunburn Festival‘. KSHMR recently collaborated with Indian DJ duo Lost Stories to create Bombay Dreams.
