While the Dilruba actress has been roped in to play the parallel female lead. That’s all we really know about the Sang-e-Mar Mar sequel as of now.

It seems that the Rafta Rafa singer is following the lead of his Jal co-stars Farhaan Saeed, and Gohar Mumtaz and delving into a TV drama.

Previously, when news of a Sang-e-Mar Mar sequel came out fans were excited to see the story of some of our favorite characters from the drama serial again.

That’s when director Saife Hassan, revealed that a sequel of the drama is in the making. At the time the Sang-e-Mah and Sang-e-Mar Mar director shared that the squeal will have the same cast featuring Nauman Ejaz, Kubra Khan, and Sania Saeed.

Have the original characters taken the back seat with a new set of protagonists? Will the drama follow the book to the tee, or are we looking at a revamp?

More About Sang-e-Mah

Based on the books by Mustafa Afridi the Sang-e-Mar Mar saga is a trilogy, with Sang-e-Mah and Sang-e- Siyah constituting the other two books. Saife Hassan shared that Sang-e-Siyah will also be adapted into a drama after the sequel.

The blockbuster drama serial garnered a cult following when it was aired in the year 2016. Directed by Saife Hassan the drama starred Nauman Ijaz, Sania Saeed, Kubra Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, in lead roles. Other cast members included Masroor Pasha, Uzma Hassan, Najeeba Faiz, Omair Rana, Najeeba Raja, Tipu Sharif, Sharmeen Ali, Kaif Ghaznavi, etc.

The drama follows the story of three generations in a Pathan family. Gulistan Khan is the patriarch for the majority of the series. It explores tradition in Swat back in the day and the consequences people bear in this mindless mill of cultural norms.
