Atif Aslam’s Top 10 Songs That Deserve a Listen

The singer’s music style has evolved but we still fall for his love songs

Atif Aslam has established himself as a pretty versatile singer of our time. From his initial teen romance album to Bollywood soundtracks and his recent alternative modern rock song 12 Bajey, he seems to be a man of many hidden vocal depths.

We can argue all day as to which Atif Aslam era was better and never agree on anything. But one thing’s for sure.

Over the course of his music evolution, Atif Aslam’s tune and tempo may have changed but the emotional depth of the lyrics and the thoughtfulness behind them hasn’t.

With that introduction out of the way, here are the top 10 Atif Aslam songs that you should listen to:

1.  Dil Diyaan Gallan

This is from one of Bollywood’s recent soundtracks. Tiger Zinda Hai spills out its heart with ‘Dil Diyaan Gallan’. We were loving Bollywood’s recent wave of Punjabi music. Atif’s soft voice created a mellow track unlike the usual Punjabi upbeat single we are accustomed to.

2.  Tera Hua

Another track off a soundtrack. The single was featured in Loveyatri. The single is a slow love song, which is signature to Atif’s discography.

3. O Sathi

This rebel dance track is from Baghi 2. The track has layered melodies that help you dance to it but the lyrics still melt your heart.

4. Tere Liye

Atif Aslam actually has two tracks by the same name. One from the soundtrack of Namaste England and the other from Vivek Oberoi’s Prince. The two are polar opposites. The recent being an alt rock song while the older track from Prince was a dance number.

5. Dekhte Dekhte

We don’t know what genre this song falls into. The tempo is modern but the beat is traditional Bollywood. Batti Gul Meter Chalu may have flopped but the sound track with Atif Aslam’s vocals will lift your spirits.

6. Tu Jaane Na

Throwback to 2009. The track from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani gave us Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif as a couple (the two started dating afterwards) and a number of love songs that are crush songs and break up songs too such as ‘Aa Jao Meri Tamanna’ and ‘Tera Honay Laga Hoon’. The most hit among them is definitely Tu Jaane Na.

7. O Meri Laila

How fitting that the best love ballad from the modern take on the traditional saga of Laila Majnu is an Atif Aslam song. The female vocals do add the kick the saga needed. Normally ballads are stories. This just adds to the magic of a love ballad.

8. Hoor

Another love song off a movie soundtrack.

One thing is certain. No matter how diverse his tracks over the course of his music evolution, people still gravitate towards his love ballads.

9. Aadat

One of the oldest Atif songs ever. These teenage romance love ballads is what we fell in love with to begin with. His modern love tracks are much more mature but we still love that original juvenile stuff. The song has had many remakes upbeat ones, acoustic versions but nothing beats the original.

10. Jeena Jeena

The track is from the movie Badlapur. The slow number is pretty versatile. You can sway to it, do your maths homework or just chill.
