Now that Disney is releasing its films in Pakistan after successful talks with distributor Eveready Pictures, we can get excited about Avengers: Endgame without any holdups.
Avengers: Endgame release date is April 26th, just like the rest of the world. The movie will conquer box offices worldwide with an expected opening of over $300 million in North America alone. Those are some to globally historic numbers, and we just gotta wait how they pan out.
Given those projections, this is great news for the Pakistani box office as well. Since February, local cinema houses were in a bit of a pickle. While Pakistan had plenty of great movies lined up this year, February did not have any high profile release lined up.
That month at the box office saw re-runs of old Pakistani block-busters such as Teefa in Trouble and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2. While Sherdil saw phenomenal success in March, the lack of Disney release Captain Marvel was strongly felt.
April will be much more eventful with major Hollywood releases Shazam!, Pet Sematary, Captain Marvel and soon Avengers: Endgame.
How Well is Avengers: Endgame expected to do in Pakistan?
Local movie exhibitors are pumped about their prospects. Manager of Karachi’s Nueplex cinemas, Kamran Yar Khan predicts that Avengers: Endgame will cross the record opening of Avengers: Infinity War. Infinity War grossed a little under 80 million rupees on the opening weekend.
“Avengers: Endgame on track for a phenomenal 100 Million rupees non-holiday opening weekend in Pakistan.”
To sum it up:
- Avengers: Infinity War = ~Rs. 80 miillion on opening weekend.
- Avengers: Endgame = Rs. 100 miillion on opening weekend (projected)
Nueplex theaters have opened advance bookings for the film on 5 out of its 15 screens. Other theater chains like Cinepax and MECinemas are also selling advance tickets for the Disney production starring Brie Larson, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans.
Even the chairman Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) Daniyal Gilani is excited about the Marvel crossover film.
