2. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008)

Did you know that the winning formula behind any long-term relationship is to be with someone you can be friends with? Passion dies out but friendships last. This movie makes a clear distinction between the ‘first comes friendship, then comes love’ mantra of SRK’s films.

As for the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na cast, Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan made his debut with this film. Genelia D’Souza really shined in this one.

3. Masaan (2015)

A story that’s all about breaking stereotypes. Masaan is a love story that is okay with loss and heartbreak. The story follows Deepak’s love for Shalu, but their caste gets in the way.

4. Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2007)

This movie features six couples vacationing in Goa. With such a huge cast you may think it led to fusion confusion but no.

Boman Irani and Shabana Azmi’s romance steals the show. The best message in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.vwas throwing out ‘what will people say’ in modern love.

5. Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein (2001)

This is a modern love story that stays true to love at first sight.

R Madhavan’s character Maddy makes us believe that there are still good guys out there. They just don’t fit the bill of a Salman Khan character with poster abs, or be rich like SRK’s Rahul in DDLG. Dia Mirza’s Reena helped us believe that even shy girls fall in love.

The Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein cast really carried the film through.

6. Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015)

This movie countered the stereotype of loveless arranged marriages. Dum Laga Ke Haisha cast is ably portrayed by its two leads. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Prem Prakash Tiwari, marries an educated overweight girl Sandhya, played by Bhumi Pednekar.

The union may have been due to parental pressure, but the movie shows us how, when finally Prem understands Sandhya, love follows. All this happens despite the court ordering the two to stick together for six months when they file for divorce.

7. Barfi! (2012)

This is one of the best romances of this decade. It really enforces the idea of how we love who we love, and that someone’s disabilities don’t change that.

8. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

This movie addresses one of the biggest problems in any modern relationship – confusing attachment and lust with love.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil explains that love does not need possession and ownership, just sincerity and trust. The movie had an amazing cast to visualize that message.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil cast Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai and Fawad Khan. They even threw in an SRK cameo as a cherry on top.

9. Love Aaj Kal (2009)

The way this movie was directed is what makes it special. Panning out two love stories from two generations is why Imtiaz Ali is a genius.

As for the Love Aaj Kal cast, Saif Ali Khan managed to keep up with Deepika Padukone’s performance. Rishi Kapoor was a sidelined hero that made a big impact with minimal screen-time.

10. Tamasha (2015)

It’s amazing how this list ends with another Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor pairing.

Tamasha has a simple premise. What happened in Corsica between the two leads was supposed to stay there but it didn’t. The movie suggests that summer love should be just that.

Was the relationship even real?
