Boy Brutally Tortured To Death By A ‘Faith Healer’ in DG Khan

The 12-year-old died during a ‘failed exorcism.’

A ‘spiritual healer’ in the Drahma area of Dera Ghazi Khan has been apprehended by the police on Thursday for allegedly torturing an innocent 12-year-old boy under the guise of exorcism.

The family could not save the boy’s life as he succumbed to his wounds on his way to the hospital.

Exorcisms are an age-old practice found in many religions. By definition, it is about evicting demonic or spiritual entities from a person who is believed to be ‘possessed’.

While most people believe that there are spiritual entities all around us, not many can agree on the various methods and techniques used in exorcisms. Since there is no definitive guide on how to carry out an exorcism, there is a large number of self-proclaimed “faith/spiritual healers” who have their own ways. These ‘healers’ are mostly con-artists who are allowed the freedom to do anything with a ‘possessed’ person.

Recently, a young boy lost his life to such a con-man who brutally tortured him.

Faith Healers are quacks

The incident took place in the Darbar Peer Fateh Shah area. The boy’s name was Muhammad Akash, a local from Siddique Abad Colony, who died during his ‘exorcism’ performed by the culprit Ijaz Hussain.

According to the victim’s family, Akash was “brutally tortured to death” at the hands of Ijaz.

They demand that justice be served since the case has been registered against him. The police have apprehended Ijaz Hussain and have sent the body of the boy for medico-legal requirements.

“Those who torture the innocent in the name of treating a possessed soul will not be given no reprieve by the law enforcement,” District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq said.

People need to beware of these ‘faith healers’ who are nothing more than frauds.
