Remember that ‘Chai Wala‘ AKA Arshad Khan who became the darling of Pakistani social media a few years ago? And have you wondered what became of him? Well, wonder no more because this young gentleman has done rather well for himself.

Years ago, after one picture went viral, this chai wala (tea seller) left his trade to venture into Pakistan’s entertainment industry. But where is he now?

Turns out Arshad Khan is returning to his roots with his very own ‘Chai Wala Rooftop Cafe‘. No more overpriced chai from ‘Dabba themed’ cafes that taste nothing like the real deal. Arshad Khan told Urdu News that he started this cafe because being a ‘chai wala‘ is part of his identity, and that’s something he’s proud of.

What has Chai wala been up to?

About a year ago, Arshad Khan revealed that he was planning to open tea cafés across the country. He made good on that promise with his first cafe in Islamabad.

Although the emerging actor does have acting projects in the pipeline, he revealed that his top priority right now is his own business.

The roof-top cafe offers a rustic decor, with truck art and that iconic chai that landed this chai wala on the map. The Chai Wala Rooftop Cafe will also offer an extensive menu of tidbits and snacks to go with that chai.

Digging deep and doing some soul searching, Arshad Khan also opened up about being comfortable with the education he has but making an effort to help other kids who have to give up their education due to financial issues like he did.

Yet he still asserts the need for a hard day’s work, adding his organization would also teach these kids a professional skill to earn a livelihood.

“In our society a lot of people emphasize the need for education. I didn’t pursue an academic education but Allah has put me where I am today . Yes, I do regret not being able to complete my education, so I’m starting a organization to help fund the education of kids like me who quit school due to financial constraints, but also learn a professional skill to support their livelihood when they grow up.”

Arshad Khan has come a long way. And he is trying to do his best with his fame and riches by helping others like him. What’s not to love about him?
