Ducky Bhai Explains Why the PUBG Ban is Wrong [Video]

Check it out.

Pakistani YouTuber, Saad-ur-Rehman AKA Ducky Bhai doesn’t appreciate the ban on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). On the invitation of fellow PUBG supporter, Waqar Zaka the two explained why the rationale being used to ban the game isn’t very convincing.

Ducky says that this isn’t about some annoyed parents doing away with a game once. If this current incident is any indication, every time children start behaving badly over a video game will lead to their parents asking for a ban. That’s not a feasible approach.

Think of all the corporations who would use this approach to take down popular games from rivals. Ducky Bhai argues how the future of gaming, E-sports, and phone apps is at stake here.

“If people start accepting it as a legitimate argument then I don’t think any app, gaming or not, is secure in the future. It doesn’t make sense to ban an app used by millions just because of an issue relating to one person.”

The ban on the game has also put a damper on the professional gaming potential of Pakistan. E-sports is one of the biggest industries in entertainment globally. Bans like that on PUBG will slash back on its market potential in Pakistan.

“Just over a few days ago, PUBG mobile, on its official website, announced that it had improved servers in Pakistan. That, in fact, has happened, … Why did PUBG makers do it? Well, they must’ve noticed that there are serious players in the country.”

While the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority’s ban on PUBG is temporary, some people have been encouraging a permanent ban.

No Excuse For Bad Parenting

As for children behaving badly, a child playing a mature game is nothing short of bad parenting. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure their child isn’t playing games not intended for their age group. That’s what the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating is for.

Additionally, as Ducky Bhai pointed out, people build communication skills through gaming. Some people may be socially awkward and lack friends but gaming gives them a platform to interact more comfortably.

“Some people have social anxiety and are unable to interact with people in their real lives. But in online gaming, you have to talk to people. It betters your communication skills. There are kids who don’t have any friends and are sad because of it.”

Often people develop friendships with others online. Parents should also check in on who these friends are much like you’d check out your child’s friends in real life.

“In gaming, you are connected to people all around the world, be it duos or squads…you get to make friends. My discord is full of people that I have met only through gaming, whom I now consider friends.”
