Dwayne Johnson Reveals When He’s Starting “Black Adam”

The Rock wants to play a big bad villain again!

Forbes’s highest-paid actor in 2019, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson already has ‘Black Adam‘ lined-up for next year. Dwayne Johnson confirmed that ‘Black Adam’ will start shooting next summer.

The Rock is playing Black Adam, an anti-hero from DC Comics who is a recurring enemy of thesuperhero Shazam. The film cast the 47-year-old action star in the titular role in Black Adam.

In case you didn’t know, Dwayne Johnson was an executive producer on DCEU film ‘Shazam!’. While Black Adam will be a standalone film, it will still be connected to Shazam! in many ways.

The Rock’s Fans are excited

Fans of the comic franchise and the actor are even more excited. One fan went ahead and sculpted a model of what he thinks Dwayne Johnson would look like as Black Adam.

 

The Rampage star responded to the tweet saying:

‘’Very cool man, thank you. Amazing detail. This project has been with me for over 10 years. Production begins this July. Appreciate the support.’’

The Rock was originally meant to portray Black Adam in the ‘Shazam!’ movie. Then they decided against it and went for a standalone film approach to DCEU.

Shazam! cast Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as the teenager Billy Batson and his superhero alter ego respectively. It cast Dr. Sivana, essayed by Mark Strong, as the antagonist.

Jaume Collet-Sera, director of The Rock’s upcoming Disney action-adventure ‘Jungle Cruise’ is also being linked to the film.

Flynn Picture Co and Seven Bucks Productions are producing the film.
