The Turkish television series Ertugrul Ghazi has taken Pakistan by storm. According to PTV, the drama has gotten over 200 million views in just 3 weeks on its YouTube channel so far!
The epic drama series is still trending on YouTube Pakistan every day. Even the stars of the show like Esra (who plays Halima Hatun) is getting new followers on Instagram.
In just 20 days, since the series debuted with Urdu dubbing on the airwaves, PTV’s YouTube channel has registered an exponential rise in its viewership with nearly 3 million subscribers, shattering all previous records.

With such towering popularity, the numbers are expected to climb more in the coming days. Like many other countries, Pakistan had enforced a countrywide lock-down in March, to stem the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. The series has enjoyed a steady viewership as people keep indoors amidst the lockdown.

Millions of Pakistanis jumped to social media and warmly welcomed the Turkish historical epic. Even Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan gave his approval of the series.
The viewers continuously comment and share scenes of the series on Twitter. However, the debate and discussion about the show and its impact in Pakistan have been mixed. While a lot of people love it for the show’s Game of Thrones style depiction of Muslim history and of course, the talented and beautiful actors portraying the roles; there are people who believe the show’s popularity is hurting Pakistan’s own showbiz industry. Actors such as Lollywood star Shaan have been against the idea of PTV promoting foreign shows on their network rather than work local projects.

Being muslims we always intrusted in our histroy.In our lical dramas just local topics r discussed which we r facing in daily life.I have seen a lot of dramas in my childhood like Muhhamad Bin Qasim.Rashid Minhas.Aziz bhatti shaheed.Ther r marvelous but sorry to say now a days there is no drama which i can watch with my kids.
