Turns out all has not been lost to right-wing Hindutva supremacists in India. We are seeing a battle on Indian TV waves, as Turkey’s Ertugrul faces off against Israel’s Fauda.
According to Haaretz, this cultural war has been brewing in India for quite some time. The surprising thing is, both of these shows show two completely different depictions of Muslims. How are Indian Muslim audiences reacting to it?

Let’s take a look at why counter-terrorism drama Fauda is popular in India. Given the BJP’s draconian takeover of India’s sole Muslim-majority state, Kashmir, there has been a surge in interest in ties with Israel. Its no wonder then, with India trying to emulate Israel, a model state for occupation and annexation. The two countries are united in their ‘opposition to Islamist terrorism‘ as they call it. Fauda depicts Palestinians as the villains and Israel forces as the saviours more or less.
On the other hand, Pakistan with certain Muslim allies has been trying to exert soft power on Indian Muslims. Haaretz states that in order push back against Islamophobia, especially in Kashmir and India itself, Turkish historical series Dirilis Ertugrul is enjoying a massive upsurge in viewership among Indian Muslims.
That is where Ertugrul vs Fauda come into play. Both series are aimed at creating completely opposing sentiments towards Muslims. Both are battling it out in this ideological struggle of left versus right.
Despite Indians preferring dubbing over subtitles, that hasn’t stopped them from watching the Israeli series about an undercover Israeli unit hunting down Palestinian-Muslim terrorists. With Bollywood always vilifying Muslims in movies like Fanah to Haider, Fauda seems to capitalize on that familiar trend.
On the other hand, Ertugrul, which has been dubbed in Urdu/Hindi is not just a hit among Indian Muslims but is a hit across South Asia. The series dubbed ‘Turkish Game of Thrones‘ took over 146 countries back in 2018. It has also smashed YouTube viewership records.
The show is also trying to appeal to India’s secular, liberal left-wing activists. Leftists such as Arundhati Roy have been causing trouble for the right-wing government of BJP, be it with the revocation of Kashmir’s special status or the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA 2019).

This is interesting. Is the love for Ertugrul trying to arrest India’s transformation into a wholly fascist and anti-Muslim state? Or is Fauda paving the way to a deeply intolerant Indian law enforcement apparatus that doesn’t care about its minorities?

In the state where whole world is developing day by day being muslims we are losing our faith day by day we are forgetting our teachings,there is a tag of *Terrorist* on muslims in whole world,while we are not Terrorists our Religion doesn’t permit terroris.
There is a new drama on Netflix named as -Fauda- made by Israel and it’s quite popular on Netflix,in that drama they are showing muslims terrorists and they have some heroes in that drama which are saving people from muslim terrorists they have shown how brave they are and how cruel are muslims they are showing israelis oppressed and muslims tyrant (Butchers), people are attaching with that drama and characters powerfully.
Remember this drama is made against turkish drama (Ertughral Ghazi) which is popular all over the world in which Islamic teachings have shown to reduce the impact of this drama Israel made a Drama called – Fauda- and India is telecasting it proudly against muslims.
Now that this is 5th generation war so many anti-muslim opponents have used it against Muslims with great cunning,we have to be careful we have to keep our eyes open,we must differentiate good and bad according to our Islam.
