Netflix Shamefully Puts Palestinian Families in Danger with Israeli TV Series Fauda

This is disgusting.

Netflix

If you thought ‘Bard of Blood‘ was atrocious, Netflix series ‘Fauda‘ steps that up even further. Based on its newest trailer footage, the producers behind this show depicted real-life Palestinian neighborhoods as ‘terrorist centers’ and even used names of their residents without consent. No marks for guessing what happens to hapless Palestinians who are already living under occupation.

The trailer for Season 3 is pretty clear. While for Palestinians losing friends is made out to be nothing, the Israeli lead character’s loss is played up for emotional appeal.

About Fauda

The Israeli-produced series claims to share ‘human stories from both sides.’ But one needs only look at the trailer to see that the show does not even touch on the subject of Israeli occupation, the displacement of Palestinians, violation of numerous United Nations resolutions, etc.

Hence the claim of showcasing ‘human stories on both sides‘ goes out the window. Fauda is nothing more than a glorified war drama where the victor shares their own version of history.

It’s no surprise that Palestinians and those against identity politics are infuriated with this defamation.

Ironically, the streaming platform won’t allow you to share screengrabs from the series. Which is weird because Netflix has no qualms about using the identities of real people without their consent.

People took to Twitter to call out the hate and identity politics that Fauda is propagating.  Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time.

Netflix, Amazon and Others Warned to Remove “Anti-India” Content

That’s not even the worst part. The series showcases Palestinians as terrorists, therefore dehumanizing actual crimes that are being committed against Palestinians every day. Viewers agree that the show treats Palestinian deaths as ‘collateral damage’, and justifies further violence against the ethnic group.

Is Netflix going to do the right thing here? The world’s one billion-strong Muslim community may have to apply some pressure here.

After all, Netflix has banned certain episodes of Hasan Minhaj’s show in Saudi Arabia. It has also taken down ‘anti-Indian’ content in India. The viewership numbers do matter to the streaming platform, especially given how Netflix attracted 15.7 million subscribers in 2020 so far.
