US actress Elle Fanning, who is currently in Cannes as a part of this year’s jury for the film festival, fainted at the dinner party. She blamed a “tight dress” for the occurrence.
Fanning, who is the youngest member of the jury, is keeping up a very busy schedule of movie-viewing at the glitzy French Riviera event. She fell off her chair while she was giving a speech.
Her older sister Dakota Fanning, who was seated at a nearby table, rushed to her aid and helped her on her feet again.
Security quickly separated the two, and Elle was taken away for medical assistance.
British actor Colin Firth, who was also at the same dinner gala rushed to Fanning’s aid until the “Beguiled” star was taken away.

Fanning is one of nine film industry luminaries judging this year’s nominees at the world’s top film festival. At the end, she and other members will announce who has won the coveted Palme d’Or for best film on Saturday, choosing one out of 21 contenders.
Jessica Shepherd, MD, a gynecologist in Texas had this to say about Fanning’s fainting episode:
“If you have a heavy period, it can cause a lot of blood loss which can make you anemic. That can definitely increase your risk of fainting.”
