How to Report Online Harassment to FIA Cyber Crime Wing [Guide]

Here’s how you can take action against digital criminals.

In today’s social media era, cyber crimes have become all too common. Be it identity theft, online trolling, or plain ‘fraindship’ requests that are everything not, you need to be aware of how to take action against such elements.

Pakistan also has cyber laws in place to curb online harassment. However, most people are not aware about how to pursue their legal options. But fret not, you’ve come to the right place.

FIA’s cyber-crime wing confirms that it received over 7,000 complaints of online harassment from Sindh alone this year. FIA has also arrested 26 suspects in this regard.

During an interview with Naya Din on Samaa TV, Ammar Jaffri said in order to counter the increasing cyber-crimes, the FIA should open its offices in small districts and cities too.

How to Report a Cyber Crime

The former FIA official stressed how people can file a complaint against their offenders. This channel is open for those who are being bullied online or facing harassment and blackmail.



To do this:

  1. Navigate FIA’s website, http://www.nr3c.gov.pk/,  to lodge complaints.
  2. Once the complaint is lodged, you will receive a tracking number that helps you subsequently track the investigation.
  3. A complainant can also visit any nearby ‘Cyber Crime Zone’ office or call their helpline numbers and tell them about their issue.

The former DG FIA, Cyber-Crime Wing stressed the importance of being a smart Internet user. He urged women to review their sharing settings on social media platforms as well.

On the matter of numerous reported cases of online harassment in the recent past. It seems most of the time women are the complainants in these cases. From women receiving threats online to people leaking their private pictures.
