Huge Fire Engulfs Itwar Bazaar in Islamabad [Pictures]

Did the authorities respond in time?

A fire erupted at Sunday Bazaar at Peshawar Mor in Islamabad at around 3:50 am on Tuesday morning. This isn’t the first instance of a fire at the ‘Itwar Bazaar‘ and people are asking authorities to address the root cause.

According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat the fire was controlled within one hour.

DC Islamabad was on the scene soon after the fire broke out. By that time word of the incident was making rounds on social media.

How much damage?

So far the authorities have not revealed the extent of the damage. Based on the pictures that surfaced nothing but the metal structures of the market place remains.

Some people are pointing at faulting solar panel installations as the culprit to recurring fires at Itwar Bazaar.

A Regular Occurrence

Itwar Bazar is located in Islamabad’s H-9 Sector and the market has faced recurring instances of fires breaking out. Itwar Bazaar is situated next to the Metro Bus Depot and one of it’s Kashmir Highway Terminals.

People have raised concerns about the frequent fires. Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman led Jamiat Ulema Islam’s ‘Azadi March’ is expected to reach the Metro Bus Depot next to Itwar Bazaar on Thursday 31st October.

This is also causing concern for the residents of Islamabad. Which explains the rumors around the Sunday Bazaar fire and JUI-F march being connected.
