‘I Always Wanted Sons’: Sahiba Shares Problematic Views On Daughters [Video]

…. and daughter-in-law

Veteran actress Sahiba has stirred quite some controversy with her recent statements about daughters. Her comments are being seen as misogyny and problematic.

The Lollywood actress appeared on Good Morning Pakistan’s Ramzan transmission ‘Shaan-e-Suhoor’ with her husband movie star Rambo and her sons.

While talking about their children, the ‘Comedy In Action’ show host shared how he wishes he had a daughter. While sharing his point of view on having a daughter, he said;

“I miss having a daughter. I miss having a daughter when I see my sons showering their unconditional love on their mother. When I see other actors, like Shan and Saud and their bond with their daughters, I do feel it.”

On the other hand, Sahiba was of the opposite opinion stating she is ‘thankful she doesn’t have a daughter’. Her rationale was how hard it is for women in our society.

“I always wanted to have sons. I’m thankful to God for not giving me a daughter. I think a girl has to face many ups and down and compromises throughout her life, even before her marriage as well. They can’t live their life according to their own choice. In my opinion boys are free to live their own lives.”

Rather than try and raise a daughter on equal footing with her sons and making an effort for her to have the same oppertunities, Sahiba would rather just not have a daughter. Netizens aren’t happy.

Not to mention, how they aren’t too impressed with Sahiba’s boys either.

When the moviestar shared her ‘demands’ for the kind of daughter-in-law in she wants, that only affirmed that men raised by patriarchial women are the problem.

Aside from the usual a ‘woman is her family’, Sahiba really just focused on her daughter-in-law’s looks. Is this clearly misogyny or no?
