Is 50 Crore a Lollywood Ripoff of Money Heist?

It’s great to see Pakistani filmmakers step out of their comfort zone and make an action film like ‘50 Crore‘. The film follows a group of misfits who pull off a mega heist. But wait a minute. It seems like we have heard this all before.

That sounds all too familiar, doesn’t it? In fact, it sounds like 50 Crore may well be a rip-off of the Netflix hit drama series Money Heist.

If that wasn’t a dead giveaway, one of the 50 Crore cast members, Naveed Raza, shared the film’s teaser. In the teaser seen below, we see the characters being named after locations. Any Money Heist fan would tell you exactly what’s going on here.

Based on the teaser, we know that the cast includes Naveed Raza as Lalamusa, Noman Habib as Sheikhupura, Faysal Quraishi as Cheif, Aijaz Aslam as Rahim Yaar Khan, Mahmood Aslam as Dadu, Faryal Mehmood as Chaman, Asad Siddiqui as Mirpurkhas, and Anoushay Abbasi as Bela.

Twitter has a field day with 50 Crores

Of course, a rip-off calls for memes. And Pakistani Twitter didn’t hold back.
