Is Ehd-e-Wafa Getting Banned?

Who in their right mind wants a ban on the drama?

While people are struggling to let go as we near the end of military drama Ehd-e-Wafa, someone filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) to ban it altogether.

Now avid followers of the drama serial are left with so many questions.

Does that mean we won’t get to see the end? What qualms could anyone possibly have against the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) sponsored drama serial?

According GNN, the petitioner maintains that Ehd-e-Wafa is projecting a negative image of Pakistan worldwide. How so? He says:

by tarnishing the image of politicians and media‘.

The appellant has further requested that the top court ban Ehd-e-Wafa. There is no further information on the identity of the appellant.

About Ehd-e-Wafa

Ehd-e-Wafa cast Ahad Raza Mir, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Wahaj Ali as central characters. The drama follows the stories of four friends from St Lawrence Cadet College Muree, onto separate paths.

While Ahad Raza Mir’s ‘Saad’ decides to keep his military streak going, Osman Khalid Butt’s ‘Shahzain’ halts his education and becomes a politician.

The petitioner’s complaints about Ehd-e-Wafa  ‘tarnishing the image of politicians and media‘ might stem from recent developments in the plot. Recently we see Sheheryar and Shariq take center stage (for once) to expose corrupt politicians and their accomplices.

What’s wrong with highlighting how corrupt legislators get away with violating the law? Since Ehd-e-Wafa was aimed at a younger audience compared to the average middle-aged drama audience, the content had to be audience-appropriate.

That is why there is such emphasis on issues such as peer pressure, family dynamics, unemployment and social issues such as corruption.

Even the romance between Saad and Dua (Alizeh Shah) is a new-age romance of a young power couple in the military.

Same goes for the better half of a politician a woman with a feudal background Rani (Zara Noor Abbas). She’s nothing like the docile depiction of ‘feudal women’ we’ve seen in serials like Mera Saaein, Virasat, Malaal-e-Yaar, etc.

People ought to get use to such content if the drama scene is to ever cater to a younger audience.

Comments

  1. That’s not good decision why they want to banned this drama. This is true story our political leaders. I hope people will do some thing to continue this drama.

  2. If its necessary to explore the corruption of politicians then why not explore the corruption of military?

  3. well its required that we we accept the corruption on bases of love for country and npt our political loyalties where our petty loyalties takes precedence on the loyalty of country everyone should be exposed and should be hated when exposed so that our country can progress
