Fans of Zahid Ahmed and Sonya Hussyn can rejoice at their comeback as the Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb‘s hit pair will be seen together in another HUM TV project, Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida

The drama also stars Laal Kabootar star Mansha Pasha and by the looks of it, is a story about three characters caught up in a twisted love triangle.

As soon as the teasers were released, fans noticed some similarities between Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida and the 1997 Bollywood movie Judaai, which itself was a remake of a Telugu film.

Let’s have a look at the teasers first:

The Comparison Begins

Judging by the first 4 teasers, Ulfat (played by Sonya Hussyn) and Zahid Ahmed’s character are a happily married couple. While Ulfat wants the best for her family, she also has a dream of becoming rich.

On the other hand, Shafaq (Mansha Pasha’s character) is the rich and glamorous woman who wants to be with Zahid Ahmed’s character at all costs.

Shafaq offers Ulfat money (a sum of Rs 10 crores) in exchange for allowing her to get married to Zahid’s character. Blinded by her greed, Ulfat accepts the offer but ends up regretting it once they are married.

Sounds familiar? Well, this is precisely why netizens are calling out the writers and the producers for blatantly copying the plot of Judaayi, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar.

Like Ulfat, Kajal (essayed by the late Sridevi) meets with the same fate when she sells off her husband to Jaanhvi (played by Urmila Matondkar) for Rs 1 crore.

Looks like the writer took the phrase ‘history repeats itself’ too seriously. Here’s what Twitter has to say about it.

Following the criticism, local media reached out to the leading lady of the drama. They asked Sonya Hussyn if the allegations are correct.

“You know, we never thought about this. None of us thought it’s copied from a Bollywood film. If anyone would have thought it was similar to Judaai, we would have changed the script. It’s so unfortunate that we have received such feedback,” she answered.

So is Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida a rip-off of Bollywood hit Judaayi or will the story take a shift once the show commences? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments.
