K-pop star and eldest member of BTS, Kim Seok-Jin began his mandatory military service in South Korea on Tuesday.
The eldest member of world famous boyband BTS will not rocking on stage anytime soon as the 30-year-old will spend 18 months on the frontlines at South Korea’s military boot camp, Yeoncheon base in North Gyeonggi province right next to North Korea.
Kim Seok-Jin, or Jin, bid farewell to his fans via Weverse earlier on Tuesday as he wrote,
Now it’s time for a curtain call.
The K-pop icon requested his loyal fans to refrain from visiting him on the day of his enlistment but that didn’t stop the ARMY and paparazzi from gathering at an intersection in front of the Yeoncheon base’s gate to catch a few glimpses of the Korean megastar.

A day before his military enlistment, Kim Seok-Jin had thousands of fans weeping after revealing that he had shaved off his ‘luscious locks’. The BTS star shared a picture of his new military mandated buzzcut on Monday.
Jin was also joined by his fellow BTS brethren, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who took some fun pictures together, rubbing Jin’s head for ‘good luck’.

What’s in Store for the ‘Pink Princess’?
According to a former South Korean military personnel, Jin will be placed in barracks with 40 other recruits sharing bunk beds. The K-pop star will have to be up early every morning around 6:30am to begin daily routine such as physical workouts, as well as weapons and combat training.
Much like all recruits, Jin too will give up his mobile phone with limited access during weekends. He can only stay in touch with the ARMY via letters.
Jin may not be entertaining the masses worldwide but he did leave his fans with an absolute banger of a song Astronaut, which was released in October. The single became the No.1 top trending song on the iTunes chart in at least 97 different countries including the United States, Germany, France, the UK, and Canada.
